We have been very busy here at Ayola with some projects we think you’ll all find interesting and/or helpful.
One of the projects in the works is translating the first chapter of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland.
Justin has graciously undertaken the task of adapting Carroll’s masterpiece into Ayola. This endeavor presents unique challenges with peculiar English mechanics, narrative structure, vocabulary, and Carroll’s inventive writing. As you can imagine, it is a daunting task, but Justin seems up to the challenge.
We have finished up the Other Phonemic Sounds in Ayola. You can listen to the new audio clips here. To Ayola Alphabet Page! Hopefully this will clear up some of the confusion about some of the sounds in Ayola.
Our other major project is, as ever, the Basic Word List. As we’ve built up Ayola’s vocabulary, we’ve developed new mechanisms which facilitate learning or documenting words within our other documents.
For now, we have come up with a few new ideas to reveal similarities between Ayola words. These include a basic cross-referencing field, noting other entries which use the same Ayola root, as well as a method of grouping together the lexical senses of words with multiple English entries.
However, it will take some time to implement them as we have to change each entry manually. With over 9,200 of them in the Basic World List alone, you can expect it will take up quite a bit of our time to bring about these new changes.
